The Ravanay, a Chasselas from Paul Burrin’s massal selection
For this Fendant, we selected loose grape clusters to improve airflow and prevent rot.
This helps the grapes reach perfect ripeness. The Chasselas vines are a mix of different types, carefully selected.
The soil on the Chamoson hillside is light and gravelly, which gives the wine its distinctive mineral character.
This selection strikes a beautiful balance between its mineral quality and fruity notes.

This vineyard, over 20 years old, comes from a massal selection by Paul Burrin, the grandfather of Paul-Maurice Burrin.
What is a massal selection?
When replanting a plot or replacing a dead vine, winegrowers who care about the quality and uniqueness of their vineyard use a massal selection of their young vines.
This means that instead of buying a vine, they choose their grafts by cutting a shoot from their finest vines.
The Ravanay terroir is very mineral-rich, located on alluvial deposits (gravel, sand, and silt left by flowing water).
It’s none other than Matthieu Vergère, horticulturist and successor to Paul-Maurice Burrin, who is behind our Fendant Ravanay LES GRANDS ORS
