New: EXTRA BLEU CIEL

The famous Gary Godel designs illustrations for EXTRA BLEU CIEL

EXTRA BLEU CIEL is our brand new range of refreshing wines, like a breath of fresh air during a summer break. EXTRA BLEU CIEL is the sunny, fruity postcard of the Valais.

The project was developed in close collaboration with illustrator Gary Godel to capture the unforgettable memories of a vacation in the Valais, under an EXTRA BLEU CIEL (“extra blue sky”) sun.

Gary Godel is an English graphic designer, known for his inimitable, recognizable style. He has developed a multitude of visual collections for ski and seaside resorts all over the world. He is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator, based in Stroud, with over 20 years’ experience in creating fine art and visuals.

Gary Godel talks about his work

“I describe myself as either a “modern retro” illustrator… or a “modern vintage” illustrator…. I can’t honestly say I like either of those terms… but they describe the work I do… but most people comment on the retro vibe with a modern twist… “colorful” is also a word that comes up a lot 😉

EXTRA BLEU CIEL was a project to create 3 wine labels using existing designs. Each of these designs was modified to include new elements.

When a project is fun, it’s always a good day’s work 😉

I really liked the end result of the bottle. I have an eclectic collection of various things with my designs on them… from a paper bag for a baguette… to a ski jacket… to a bottle of wine 🙂 ”

I have an ever-growing list of places I’ve made posters for and haven’t visited yet!

Interview with Marek Moos, Octane’s strategic director. He tells us about the graphic approach of this new collection.

“Initially, several projects were proposed as part of this project. The idea of collaborating with Gary Godel came fairly quickly. We selected posters that had already been produced, then staged the elements. We pulled out elements emblematic of the Valais, such as the mountains, les Dents de Midi, a Valais flag, Lake Champex and the Matterhorn, then passed them on to Gary to create a unique illustration for the labels. We really wanted to bring a cultural dimension with a nod to Valais for this new EXTRA BLEU CIEL collection.”

EXTRA BLEU CIEL Johannisberg

Floral and fruity, with notes of almonds and white fruits. Fruity aromatic intensity on the palate with a supple, harmonious attack, full-bodied and rich, finishing with a pleasantly bitter aftertaste. Ideal with aperitifs, cheese, asparagus or Asian dishes.

EXTRA BLEU CIEL Humagne rouge

With its dark red color, this is a Humagne with scents of red fruits, wild berries and notes of jammy raspberries. Intense, round and voluminous on the palate, with velvety, harmonious tannins. Ideal with red meats, game and cheeses.
