On Wednesday, November 24, 2021, Swiss Wine Valais awarded the Étoiles du Valais (Stars of Valais) 2021. These are the eight winemakers who received the highest score in the Sélection des Vins du Valais (Selection of Valais Wine) 2021 competition for the following wines: Fendant, Johannisberg, Petite Arvine, Heida, Dôle, Humagne Rouge, Syrah, Cornalin.
It is with great pride that we inform you that our Heida Franc-Tireur 2020 has been awarded this distinction.
Alexandre, MAYE’s oenologist, has been the proud companion of the Remondeulaz family story since 2006. He likes to point out that it’s also the success of dozens of winegrowers who dote over their vines and entrust him with their harvest. MAYE, a name held in high esteem by connoisseurs and lovers of great wines!
We are extremely proud to be able to count on his work, as well as that of Roger Remondeulaz and both of their teams.
The Heida Franc-Tireur
A limpid lemongrass-green yellow, with a nose of baked apples, lemon peel, orange peel and candied ginger. On the palate, it’s sweet and slightly honeyed, immersing the palate and coating it with a mellow, fleshy roundness. With its mingled flavours of quince and pineapple, it surprises us and invites us on an unusual journey.
These pictures were taken at the awards ceremony for the 8 winemakers who won for the best wine in their categories at the “Sélection des Vins du Valais” competition. Stéphane Maccaud (director) and Alexandre Gillioz (in-house oenologist) proudly hold our “Etoile du Valais 2021” trophy awarded to our Franc-Tireur Heida wine.
